What motivated us to open a Houston moving company? Hint: Some very bad experiences... Get inspired!

Why did we decide to open a Houston moving company?

Hint: Some very bad experiences...

After coming to Houston from Israel, 3.5 years ago Jack (Owner of Texas Move-It) started working as a laborer and a driver at a privately owned small moving company located in Houston. everything was great at first, but after a few weeks, the owner of the moving company started asking for bizzare requests.
Jack (The owner of Texas Move-It) couldn't ignore anymore the bad business he does with his clients, and decided to go on his own path.

The horror stories are long, from using the law legally to extort customers, demanding cash after loading their truck and refusing to unload until the amount that has to be paid is doubled... and the clock is still running.
There was more scammy practices along the way, I worked for two different moving companies and it seemed to be just the way it "goes".

I Wondered what if a moving company will be exactly what customer the Expects? Why not to learn from every mistake and take it to the next Level? as far as I thought, after working for a few vendors, most local Moving companies are looking to make a "hit" everyday without thinking Too much about consequences to their business.

Maybe that's why they never grow to be a big van line.

I thought it's insane, and it has to change, I wanted to make this industry respected, and earn the trust and the benefits this market has, and they're huge.

I saw and seized an opportunity to open a local Houston moving company that everyone has been looking and waiting for, a friendly, trust-worthy, professional and above all, an honest moving company that you can count on to be there for you when you need it the most, your moving day.

Ever since It's opening, Texas Move-It has provided thousands of honest, Stress-free, smooth moving experiences for our clients, making sure we're The best in the Industry, we educate our movers frequently about new Equipment, moving strategies and we supply them the best tools in the Market, confirming our position as a pioneer when it comes to customer Service.

Following this ideology, We always promise to strive for the best equipment, staff, and customer care you can get, from the first box, to the last piece of furniture, our movers will be there for you with every step you take into your new house, ensuring a warm welcome into your new neighborhood.

Texas Move-It is more than just a local moving company, we're your partners.

Moving soon? Don't start packing without printing this to-do list, big money saver!

Moving is not a fun process.

Who likes to move? Probably nobody. It takes time, money and there's a lot of worries that comes with it.
Other than being concerned for who you're going to hire to complete your moving project, you will need to go through the bureaucracy that comes with renting a house or, deal with lenders/homeowners and everything that goes with purchasing a new house; Get the Gas, Water and Electricity on, Comcast guy and many more issues that needs to be taken care of.
Are you stressed already? You can definitely calm down as we came up with this great checklist to ensure you a smooth move to your new residence. You Welcome.

THREE MONTHS PRIOR TO MOVING

If possible, plan your move outside of the busy season (late spring and summer months), most professional movers are booked during this time, which makes it hard to hire the right mover for you.
Survey your house (don’t forget the garage, attic, shed and basement), and start making "mental" lists of items that will not be moving with you.
Have a yard sale to get rid of items you will not be moving, and donate unwanted items to organizations such as Goodwill.

TWO MONTHS PRIOR TO MOVING

Contact schools, doctors, dentists, lawyers and accountants to obtain copies of your personal records and notify of your planned move.
Start interviewing movers, you’ll want to get up to five estimates for comparison, try to get an on site consultation and meet a company's representative at your place, check their reviews online, research about rates and choose your best fit (Company's rates + Reputation).
 ONE MONTH PRIOR TO MOVING
Book your move with your chosen local movers! Check about insurance and liability, all movers provide a minimal level of liability, 0.60CENTS per pound per article (buzzword for “insurance”) but if you would like REAL insurance, you should ask your mover if he has an option for a Full Cover liability (you’ll want to buy additional insurance from your mover in case you have very expensive items or a great sentimental feeling towards some of your belongings)
Order boxes and supplies to start packing if you are planning on packing by yourself.
Submit a change of address form to the Post Office (USPS.com).
prepare an inventory list of single-packed items that will be stored or moved.
Contact your utility, phone, newspaper, and magazine subscription companies to discontinue/re-establish service at your old and new addresses.
Order checks from your bank with your new address.
Arrange childcare or pet care on move day, if needed (pets and young children should be out of movers way while they handle heavy items.
Start packing items that you won’t need immediately.

TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO MOVING

Throw away items that cannot be moved (The curve suddenly looks nice) or belongings you prefer to leave (old televisions, appliances, trash and other small stuff you wont REALLY need).
Dispose properly of hazardous waste and check online where are the proper place to do so.
Order refills on prescriptions and contacts, It’s a very stressful time and you want to make sure you’ll have what you need with you, especially if its a must take Medication.
Contact the building management or the owner of your house (if rented) and ask if there is anything that need to be done before you moving out. (Painting walls, repairs, or any other concerns that can be a set back).

ONE WEEK PRIOR TO MOVING

Pay all your bills and make sure you’re not leaving any dues behind, alert neighbors that the moving trucks are coming, and that possible noise might occur, professional movers do not make a lot of noise but still commotion is possible.
Drain all water hoses around your house, also drain all gas and oil from lawn mowers, leaf and snow blowers, professional movers do not move plants, liquids and gas, so make sure to transfer them by yourself.
If there are major appliances you’re willing to move with you (Refrigerator, Washer, Dryer, Deep Freezer), please do not try to disconnect them from their electric power or from the water sources, real professional movers will do it for you. (some Appliances can be very heavy, causing you serious body harm, do not attempt to move them by yourself).
Pack a “FIRST NIGHT” box including all your personal items such as a tooth brush, some clothes, keys, checkbook, bedding, phone chargers, and fun things for the kids and children.
Confirm childcare to make sure kids will be away, when movers are working, preferably, the house should be as empty as possible, so your movers will have the space to maneuver furniture around, and have easy access to all rooms inside the residence.
Confirm your movers, give them a call and make sure all the details they have are correct, especially the moving from address, the moving to address, and the rate you were given initially, also reconfirm the way of payment, whether its Cash, Credit/debit or Check.

 ONE DAY PRIOR TO MOVE

Pack any last minute items such as cleaning products and items you haven’t packed yet, go between all rooms and closets around the house and make sure all your household items that can fit in a box, made it into a box.
Call one last time to your moving company (hopefully its Texas Move-It) and confirm your move again and all the relevant details that comes with it; Arrival time of your movers, hourly rate and any additional fees you agreed upon, way of payment, and any other concern you might have with your upcoming move.

MOVING DAY

Make sure that someone is available at your residence to receive and greet the moving crew, that person will also need to be able to sign the contract indicating start time and billing Information.
if your house is in a gated community or condominium, notify the management office of the mover’s anticipated arrival time and also make sure they will let them in.
Record all utility meter readings (gas, electric, water).
Review the bill of lading and inventory sheet one last time.
That's it! You're officially ready to move.
